"The Bruce"

The town of Lion’s Head is centrally located on The Bruce Peninsula, 25 minutes north of Wiarton and 45 minutes south of Tobermory. Taylor-Made B&B is the perfect home base for a wonderful vacation.


Lion’s Head offers a good variety of shops including a grocery store, pharmacy, liquor/beer store, a hardware store as well as boutiques offering local crafts and antiques. We have a protected harbour with a paved boat launch and fish cleaning station; try your luck fishing off the docks!

 

Swimming in Georgian Bay is just two blocks away at the sandy Lion’s Head beach, or for variety, swimming is available in Lake Huron on the other side of the Bruce Peninsula at Myles Bay just 12 km away.

Bruce Trail

Of course one of the main attractions in the area is the beautiful Bruce Trail and we are located just a block away from the trail. Many of our guests make a point of hiking to Lion’s Head Lookout and the Gun Point Trail, said to offer some of the most spectacular views on the Bruce Peninsula. Whatever skill level you are, we can provide you with trail maps; be sure to look at www.brucetrail.org and www.canadatrails.ca.

 

 

Where to Eat

There are restaurants to satisfy any taste in the area and all with in walking distance. In Lion’s Head, The Taste Kitchen offers casual family dining, the Lion’s Head Inn has great food with a pub atmosphere. Rachel’s Bakery & Cafe has yummy baked goods, breakfast, lunch and dinner choices.  Also in town is Cindy Lou's with an assortment of menu options, ice cream, scones and coffee/lattes and expresso. Take a short drive to Ferndale were you can experience Bear Tracks Restaurant for causual family dining and Mom's Pizza for of course pizza but they also have other options as well.   

 

If you are up for a drive to Tobermory then there are many more options there.  

 

The Birds & The Bees

For a more relaxed day why not look for some of the unique wildflowers and birds in the area. Enjoy the numerous beautiful gardens in our region, many of them open to the public, see www.ruralgardens.ca. The Bruce Peninsula is also home to many species of birds and plants you will not find anywhere else in Ontario.

 

Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is very popular on the Bruce Peninsula and Lion’s Head has been featured in Gripped Magazine as one of the best places around.

 

Scuba Diving

Ever wanted to try scuba diving? Tobermory is one of the most famous and popular scuba diving destinations in North America.

 

Lighthouses

Lighthouses on the Bruce Peninsula are a look back at our history. You’ll need a whole day to see all of them. Each one is beautiful, well kept and as with everything here, have film in your camera or nowadays, memory space available. Check out Bruce Coast Lighthouses.

 

Fun in the Snow

We are still here when the snow flies, Taylor-Made B&B is open all year and just 200 meters from the snowmobile trail through Lion’s Head. We’ll be here with a hot coffee or tea when you get off the trail, a cozy living room to put your feet up and swap trail stories before retreating to a nice warm bed. Please, remember trail permits are required in Ontario.

Sauble Beach

Sauble Beach is just 55 km south of Lion’s Head. A long sandy beach and an amusement park provide fun  for the whole family and Sauble Speedway will satisfy the motorheads. Be sure to check out www.saublebeach.com.

Tobermory

Taylor-Made B&B is just 50 km from Tobermory, a picturesque village at the northern tip of the Bruce Peninsula with its quaint shops and wonderful restaurants.Your visit may include viewing shipwrecks from a glass bottom boat (Blue Heron Cruises and Bruce Anchor Cruises) or taking a cruise to beautiful Flowerpot Island.
